About Us
Established as a municipal library in 1912 as the Granite City Public Library, the library converted to a district library on May 1, 1990.
In 2003 the library's legal name changed to the Six Mile Regional Library District.
SMRLD now serves the communities of Granite City, unincorporated Mitchell, and the Village of Pontoon Beach.
